Thank You,
Juan Borges was born and raised in Caguas Puerto Rico. He is the youngest of three children. His father passed when Juan was only six years old, leaving his mother to raise three boys by herself. Despite working two jobs to provide for the family, his mother still found time to play the roles of both mother and father, instilling strong morals and values as well as a deep commitment to family. In 1986 tragedy struck again, when Juan lost his grandmother to cancer. At the age of 9 Juan began to play baseball and dreamed of coming to the United States to play baseball. At the age of 17 his hard work paid off when he was offered a baseball scholarship at Martin Methodist College in Tennessee . In 1988 Juan came to Tennessee to gain an education and play college baseball. Juan had a very limited knowledge of the English language knew no one in Tennessee . Through dedication and hard work, Juan learned English within 3 months of his arrival. In 1989 Juan transferred to Middle Tennessee State University where he continued to play baseball and further his education. In 1992 he graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. After graduating from college Juan began working for the Davidson County Sheriffs Department where he served as a correctional officer. In 1995 he was offered and accepted a position as a police officer with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Through his diligence and commitment to duty, his career prospered first serving the community as a patrolman, then as a Homicide detective, and lastly as the head of the El Protector Program, a community outreach program for the Latino Community, where he is today. Juan is also a member of the hostage negotiation team and now serves as the training coordinator.
