Thank You,

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in my efforts as a candidate for the TN state house in this tumultuous election.

While many republican candidates in this election were disappointed with losses, I, despite my own disappointment, am concentrating on the gains. My experiences with those I thank tonight have given me much gain, and I was privileged to be partners in big and small ways with each and every one of you.

To the voters of district 60 who voted for me, I am encouraged by your strength of conviction to strive to protect family values and safer communities. Thank you for your votes.

To the Tennessee Republican Party and the Davidson County Republican Party, we all share in the loss during this election and I was proud to be endorsed and supported by you every step of the way.

To the donors who invested their resources and their faith in my vision for district 60, I thank you humbly and appreciate your tangible belief in what I was trying to accomplish.

To the volunteers who shared their time, talents, humor, encouragement, and spirit, there was not one moment that you gave for which I am not thankful. (There were times when I wanted to carry around signs with your names on them in gratitude!)

Winning is not always about the percentages and the outcome. Sometimes winning is just knowing that what we stood for on Tuesday night is an enduring promise which can't be erased, no matter the outcome, on Wednesday morning. Your dedication demonstrates what I believe our country was founded on. Those things are; sacrifice, spirit, and the desire to lift the hearts of the people. We didn't win the war, but every battle was a win, as together we brought our best to offer the people of district 60.

Accept my gratitude for all you have done, and for all you will continue to bring as you strive to affect change in our community.

Always yours,
Juan Borges

Juan Borges was born and raised in Caguas Puerto Rico. He is the youngest of three children. His father passed when Juan was only six years old, leaving his mother to raise three boys by herself. Despite working two jobs to provide for the family, his mother still found time to play the roles of both mother and father, instilling strong morals and values as well as a deep commitment to family. In 1986 tragedy struck again, when Juan lost his grandmother to cancer.  At the age of 9 Juan began to play baseball and dreamed of coming to the United States to play baseball. At the age of 17 his hard work paid off when he was offered a baseball scholarship at Martin Methodist College in Tennessee . In 1988 Juan came to Tennessee to gain an education and play college baseball. Juan had a very limited knowledge of the English language knew no one in Tennessee . Through dedication and hard work, Juan learned English within 3 months of his arrival. In 1989 Juan transferred to Middle Tennessee State University where he continued to play baseball and further his education. In 1992 he graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

After graduating from college Juan began working for the Davidson County Sheriffs Department where he served as a correctional officer. In 1995 he was offered and accepted a position as a police officer with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Through his diligence and commitment to duty, his career prospered first serving the community as a patrolman, then as a Homicide detective, and lastly as the head of the El Protector Program, a community outreach program for the Latino Community, where he is today. Juan is also a member of the hostage negotiation team and now serves as the training coordinator. In his 11 years as law enforcement Officer Juan has received several awards for his outstanding service to the Nashville community to include: Investigator of the month 1998, Nominated for police officer of the year 1999, Exemplary and outstanding award 2001, officer of the month 2003, Certificate of commendation 2004 and numerous letters of commendations.
